I was fortunate to encounter the iconoclastic Buddhist teacher, Chögyam Trungpa, Rinpoche, when I was only 19, and to be able to study and practice under his guidance until his death in 1987. I have also been a close student and teacher of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.

During my life as a student of the Shambhala and Buddhist teachings I had a career as a finance executive, first on Wall Street and later in technology. My teachers, including the Sakyong and the late Vajra Regent Ösel Tendzin, encouraged my journey in the world of business which led to a life exploring the intersection between the spiritual and the worldly wisdoms.

In addition, as a gay man living in New York during the age of AIDS, I have had unusual opportunity to delve deeply into the Bardo teachings – the traditional Tibetan buddhist teachings on death and dying as part of the cycle of life and spirituality.

For seventeen years from 2004 onwards I was the senior teacher of the New York Shambhala Community. I am available for online and in person teaching and personal meditation instruction meetings.

This website is dedicated to all of my teachers and students, as a way for people to reach me and the teachings to deepen and expand. You can read more about me here.
